In the immediate surroundings of Ferranesi one can find several famous cultural and historical cities

First there is Siena, a mystical and gentle city, which contains Toscana’s most photographed place, the “Piazza del Campo”. The piazza is not only renowned for its beauty but also because it is twice a year the venue for the colourful “Palio”, a horserace wherein each participant competes for the honour of its Toscane region.

Next we have Montepulciano, with its location on the ridge of a hill one of the highest cities of Tuscany.In this attractive little town, built in Renaissance style, one of the main attractions is the walk up the main street bordered by nice shops to the “Piazza Grande”, wherefrom one has a splendid panorama on the city and its surroundings.

Another nice destination for an excursion is the city of Pienza, a charming little town built by pope Pio II in 1462 on the location of his native village, Corsignano.

As a last proximate destination we like to mention the city of Montalcino, located on the flank of a hill, which is dominated by its fortress and has kept its walls intact. Trough these features it gives the visitors a good idea how all the Toscana cities must have looked like 400 years ago.

Next to these nearby destinations, Firenze, San Gimignano, Arezzo, Pisa, Lucca, Perugia, Assisi, and Orvieto can be reached with less than a one and a half hour drive. In the same distance range we find two destinations Volterra and Chiusi, worthwile a visit for those who have an interest in history, as these two cities were main capitals of the Etruscan civilization.

Next to the beauty and the charm of the cities and landscapes, the Toscana region is renowned for its excellent wine produce. Ferranesi is ideally located with the vineyards of the bestknown Toscane wines the “Brunello di Montalcino” and the “Vino Nobili di Montepulciano” in the immediate vicinity. These softer and more refined wines are incomparable with the Chianti and are an absolute must when visiting the Toscana region.
